‘Chacha ne toh kaamal kardiya’ - Fans laud Iftikhar Ahmed for his quickfire 60 runs against New Zealand in 3rd T20I

On 17 April 2023, Pakistan locked horns with New Zealand in the third game of the ongoing five-match T20I series at home. The Men in Green registered two comfortable victories in the first two matches. So, they were looking for another win to seal the series. While the Kiwis were looking for a win to stay alive in the series.

Speaking of the match, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first. While batting first, they scored 163 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. Tom Latham was the highest scorer with 64 runs off 49 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Along with him, Daryl Mitchell scored 33 runs off 26 balls, including two fours and one six.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf took two wickets each while Shadab Khan took one wicket. For the chase, skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan came out as openers. But, Babar scored just one run while Rizwan got out for six runs. The following batters also failed to score big as Pakistan were struggling at 88 runs for seven wickets in 14.1 overs. But, it was Iftkikhar Ahmed who stood tall and put up a great fight until 19.4 overs.

He got out after scoring a blistering 60-run knock from 24 balls. In his innings, he smashed three fours and six sixes. For New Zealand, James Neesham took three wickets while both Rachin Ravindra and Adam Milne grabbed two wickets each. Ish Sodhi and Matt Hery picked up one wicket each. Finally, the Men in Green fell short by just four runs and Iftikhar Ahmed’s contribution went in vain. Seeing that top knock from the batter, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. They lauded the performance of the Pakistan batter as he almost won the game for his country out of nowhere.
