The third and final Test between Australia and Pakistan entered an intriguing phase after a flurry of wickets fell in the final session of Day 3. When the sixth wicket fell, the hosts were just 24 runs short of Pakistan's first-innings score of 313, but a crazy passage of play saw things turn around quickly.

Pakistan got off to a shaky start as they tried to extend the lead in the second innings. Mitchell Starc bowled a dream delivery to dismiss opener Abdullah Shafique for a duck in the very first over. Josh Hazlewood joined the party by dismissing rival skipper Shan Masood for a golden duck in the second over. After a disastrous start, Saim Ayub and former captain Babar Azam steadied the ship for a while.
