The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is often unknown around the cricketing circles as the biggest party in sport. When it comes to the Caribbean, the people in the West Indies love the short fast format of T20 and it is like a carnival atmosphere in all the islands there. But the CPL suffered two losses in the form of Ambati Rayudu and Blessing Muzarabani who have ended their time at the league for personal reasons.
Rayudu starred in three innings for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SNP).In this edition, Rayudu scored 47 runs at an average of 15.66 and a strike rate of 117.50. In three knocks that he played the former India cricketer scored 0, 32 and 15 respectively. The Andhra player had signed on as one of SNP's marquee players. Pravin Tambe had played in an earlier edition of the CPL for (Trinbago Knight Riders) TKR.
Barbados Royals have called up Carlos Brathwaite as a temporary replacement in CPL
SNP had another jolt to contend with as Muzarabani also left the tournament for personal reasons. The Zimbabwe pacer played three games. In a relatively unsuccessful stint, he took one wicket at an average of 69 and an economy rate of 10.61. The franchise also has not had a great time in the tournament so far. They are currently at the bottom of the table with no wins, two washouts and four losses.
The league however has always had high quality and Benny Howell has been called in as Rayudu's replacement. When it comes to Muzarabani, Will Smeed who has been great at the Hundred over the years has been handed a call-up. For Barbados Royals Carlos Brathwaite has joined them as Donovan Ferriera's non-permanent replacement. The South African has been selected to play the three-match T20I series against Australia.
Although the CPL has had its fair share of washouts, the cricket on show has been of the highest quality. Martin Guptill slammed a sensational 100 off 58 balls against (BR) which helped TKR score 194-5 in their 20 overs. In reply, BR were bundled out for 61 which gave TKR a huge win off 133 runs.
