On Saturday, December 10, Team India won the final One-Day International (ODI) of the three-match series against Bangladesh in Chattogram. The series was won by the hosts, 2-1. The Men in Blue amassed a massive total of 409/8 after being asked to bat first, thanks to a blistering double century from Ishan Kishan (210). Virat Kohli (113), who scored his 44th ODI century, provided the perfect support.
At one point, India appeared to be on track to reach 450. However, the middle-order batters were unable to build on the foundation laid by Kishan and Kohli, as the visitors continued to lose wickets at regular intervals in the death overs.
Bangladesh responded quickly, with skipper Litton Das (29) attempting to counterattack. Axar Patel dismissed Anamul Haque in the fifth over, ending a promising 33-run opening stand. Das quickly followed his opening partner to the pavilion, leaving his team in a bind.
Shakib Al Hasan (43 off 50 balls) attempted to anchor the innings, but the Tigers continued to lose partners at the other end. He was dismissed in the 23rd over while attempting to up the ante, as the required run rate increased exponentially with each passing over.
Bangladesh's batting order crumbled from there, as Indian bowlers skittled them out for 182 in just 34 overs. Team India dominated the entire contest in every department, winning by a massive margin of 227 runs.
At the post-match presentation, skipper KL Rahul reflected on his team's performance and said: "It was expected from us as a team, it was brilliant to see Virat and Kishan batted today and they set up the game for us and the bowlers did the job for us."
"Scores don't suggest that, from the ball one Ishan was looking to be aggressive, he's grabbed the opportunity with both hands, getting a double hundred in an ODI is not easy and Virat at the other end with his wealth of experience, guiding him was just brilliant to see," he added.
