Adelaide Strikers are set to cross swords with Sydney Thunder in match 28 of the Big Bash League (BBL). The COVID-19 made its presence felt as the Scorchers vs Stars encounter was postponed due to the Omicron threat. However, there are no concerns about the Strikers vs Thunder going ahead as of now.
The Strikers have had a horrible start to the tournament as they have won just one of the six games they have played. Worst, all their losses have been by big margins and that has resulted in a poor net run rate. The Peter Siddle-led side are on a four-match losing streak. The bowling has been the biggest letdown for the team. Rashid Khan has lacked support from the rest of the bowlers.
Siddle has not looked threatening, conceding more than seven runs per over in most of the games. The Strikers have to address the bowling woes if they want to break into the top four.
Meanwhile, the Thunder are placed fourth on the points table. They have won three and lost three games. There is a slight inconsistency in the team’s performance in the BBL 2021.
However, they are coming off a resounding win against Scorchers and would love to string in more such good performances. Sam Billings has been the chief contributor for the team with the bat, while Tanveer Sangha has looked good with the ball.
Pitch report
The track at Adelaide Oval has historically been good for batting. Scores in excess of 150 have been posted regularly on this surface. The spinners also seem to get some purchases owing to the sluggish nature.
