"I believe Ravindra Jadeja will do what Yuvraj Singh did in the 2011 World Cup." - Kris Srikkanth

On 27 June 2023, the schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup got announced. However, the Men in Blue will look to put an end to their drought of winning major trophies since 2013. In 2011, they won the ODI World Cup in India. Yuvraj Singh played a huge role in that triumph with both the bat and the ball. Now, in a discussion on India Today, the former Team India batter, Kris Srikkanth claimed that players like Ravindra Jadeja or Axar Patel can replicate such contributions in this upcoming mega event. Notable, he pointed out the importance of having quality all-rounders to win the World Cup.

He said: “In Indian conditions, some of the wickets will turn a lot. It won’t be bouncy like in Australia or moving conditions like in England. India are used to home conditions, and that is one of the biggest advantages for the Indians. In the 2011 World Cup, you saw a lot of all-rounders coming into play.”

I believe Jadeja, the Axar Patels of the world, these people will play a very crucial role if India has to win this 2023 World Cup,” he concluded.
