Suryakumar Yadav has made a special place in the hearts of Indian cricket fans. In the last few years, his performances in the Indian T20 League have inspired a lot of confidence. Those performances have also helped him represent India in international cricket.
Consistent performances in the shortest format have helped him to become a mainstay in the Indian team. He has a stellar record in whatever matches he has played in his T20 international career so far. Suryakumar Yadav has managed to play 14 matches for the Indian Cricket Team in T20 internationals and has scored 351 runs at an average of 39.00.
He is currently plying his trade for Mumbai in the ongoing Indian T20 League. The 31-year-old has been in the form of his life. He has dished out impressive performances consistently for the franchise.
In just 4 matches, he has scored 200 runs at an average of 66.67. Despite his performances, Mumbai, however, haven’t been able to win a single game so far and are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table.
Suryakumar Yadav has also been part of India’s Test squad in the home Test series against England played last year. Though, he didn’t get the chance to play a match in that series. However, he was seldom called up on the field as a substitute during the series.
In a Gaurav Kapur’s show named ‘Breakfast with Champions’, Suryakumar Yadav talked about Rishabh Pant’s funny side while narrating a couple of incidents that took place in that series. Yadav revealed that how Pant always try to find ideas to get the atmosphere a bit light when on the field even during tense situations in a match.
“Once I was fielding at silly point for Puji bhai in a Test in England. The match situation was tight. And suddenly Pant goes ‘Bhaiya chai samosa, kuch du? Over hogaya. Uth jao!’ (bro do you need anything? Tea, samosa? Get up now, the over is done!)” Suryakumar Yadav narrated the incident on the show.
“Rishabh is too good when he is keeping. He moves me just 20 cm. Sometimes he does this (hand gestures) and it confuses me where to go. Then he says ‘nothing bhaiya, was just getting bored. Please stand wherever you are,” he added.
Rishabh Pant is currently leading Delhi in the Indian T20 League 2022. The franchise, though, hasn’t been doing too well this season. They are currently languishing at third from the bottom of the points table. In 5 matches, Delhi have only managed to win 2 games and are scheduled to play their next match against Punjab on Wednesday.
