Rain has become the most trending topic than cricket in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. On 10 September, India took on Pakistan in the ‘Super 4’ stage in Colombo. But, only 24.1 overs were played before it was called off due to heavy rain. All games of the Men in Blue in this tournament so far have been rain-affected.

In their tournament opener, they faced the Men in Green but after India’s batting, the match was called off due to rain. So, both teams were awarded one point each. Then, in the next match against Nepal, rain again interrupted. While chasing 231 runs, India’s inning was paused after 21 overs. Then, they got a revised target of 145 runs in 23 overs.

India’s every game in this ongoing Asia Cup so far have been rain-affected

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put up an unbeaten partnership of 147 runs to win the game by 10 wickets. Now, in the ‘Super 4’ clash against Pakistan, the match went into the reserve day, 11 September. After a delay due to rain, the match finally began with no overs lost as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul came out to bat. They were the overnight batters who were on the crease as India scored 147 runs for two wickets.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and his men are also scheduled to play their second ‘Super 4’ clash on 12 September at the same venue against Sri Lanka. Now, reports have come out that rain is most likely to interrupt that game. Hence, such reports have not gone well with the fans as there is no reserved day for that clash. If somehow no play occurs, then, India might struggle to qualify for the final and most importantly, India’s preparation for the upcoming ODI World Cup will be hampered once again. However, all the remaining matches of this tournament including the final are set to happen only at this same venue. So, reports have also come out that the scheduled final on 17 September can get shifted to Kandy from Colombo.
