On 20 April 2023, Punjab Kings (PBKS) hosted Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL at Mohali, Punjab. The stage was set for an enthralling battle but PBKS failed to win the game by 24 runs. Mohammed Siraj won the Player of the Match award for his stellar bowling performance.

He took four wickets for 21 runs in four overs. However, it was a very satisfying win for RCB as they batted brilliantly first and scored 174 runs in 20 overs. Then, the bowlers did their job and the fielders were also on top of their games with direct hits and catch. So, fans were happy to see an all-round performance. However, Virat Kohli was leading the team in the game as Faf du Plessis played an impact player. But, during the game, Harsha Bhogle shared a tweet and took an indirect dig at RCB.

On Twitter, Bhigle wrote: “#RCB will probably end up winning this but #PunjabKings aren't challenging a total that was a bit smaller than it could have been. And the running has, criminally, gifted two wickets!” It seemed that Bhogle did not give credit for the performance to RCB. Instead of that, he claimed that PBKS gifted their wickets while chasing a small target of 175 runs. Recently, he also took a dig at Virat Kohli for his overall strike rate.
So, fans claimed that the win under Kohli’s captaincy did not go well with him. After the win, Kohli said: “This (win) does not make us an invincible team or the league position before today did not make us a bad team. The table cannot define your mood, when you have just played five or six games. Maintain our processes and stay in the moment. The way you win games in T20 cricket is by taking wickets. Our fielding was brilliant as well.”
