The 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League has come to an end. Two new teams participated in the tournament this season and one of them won the title. Two of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history, Chennai and Mumbai finished at bottom of the table, while the new teams, Gujarat and Lucknow booked their places for the playoffs.
While Lucknow were knocked out after losing to Bangalore in the Eliminator, Gujarat went on to win the trophy. Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, Gujarat beat Rajasthan in the final by 7 wickets in the final to clinch the trophy.
A lot of players made head turns this season with their impactful performances. However, there were also some prominent players who didn’t get to play a single match this season. In this article, we will try and compile the best playing XI of the players who didn’t get the opportunity to play a single game in this season of the Indian T20 League 2022.
- Yash Dhull
Delhi cricketer, Yash Dhull came to prominence after leading the Indian team to Under-19 World Cup win in 2022. Under his leadership, India beat England by 4 wickets in the final to lift the title. He has been making headlines with his batting exploits but didn’t get the chance to feature in the playing XI for Delhi in Indian T20 League 2022.
- F Allen

- R Gurbaz
Gujarat roped in R Gurbaz as a replacement for the England batter Jason Roy for the Indian T20 League 2022. However, despite Mathew Wade’s poor form, Gurbaz didn’t get the chance to play a single game this season. One could also say that the team never needed his services as they kept on winning matches throughout their campaign.
- Gurkeerat Singh Mann
With an experience of 41 Indian T20 League matches under his belt, Gurkeerat Singh Mann slots in at number four on the points. He has 511 runs to his name in 41 matches at 21.29. Mann was part of the Gujarat side but didn't get an opportunity to bat.
- R Hangrekar

He is one of the most talented upcoming all-rounders in the Indian Cricket and the fans would hope that they get to see his magic next year.
- M Nabi
Kolkata had a rough outing this year in the Indian T20 League. However, M Nabi, one of the finest all-rounders in the shortest format was never used by the franchise this season. He could have lend strength in the middle-order and provide a spin option in the bowling department.
- Jayant Yadav
For the second spin bowling option, Jayant Yadav makes the cut. He was part of the Gujarat franchise this season but didn’t get the opportunity to feature in the playing XI. Jayant Yadav played for Mumbai last year and deceived the batsmen by his pace and turn on numerous occasions.
- Karn Sharma
Karn Sharma was part of Chennai last year and Chennai won the title. This year, Bangalore roped him but the fans were hoping that Karn Sharma’s luck might help Bangalore in winning the title. But, that never happened. The Indian spinner too didn’t get an opportunity to play a game for the franchise.

- KM Asif

However, the emergence of Mukesh Chaudhary and Simranjeet Singh meant KM Asif didn’t get the chance to be part of the playing XI in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League 2022. He would hope to show his mettle next year.
- Jason Behrendorff
Left-arm Australian pacer, Jason Behrendorff is a skillful bowler who can wreak havoc with the ball on his day. He was part of Bangalore franchise this season but didn’t get the opportunity to be part of the playing XI due to the presence of Josh Hazlewood in the team. The latter bowled exceedingly well this and that didn’t allow Befrendorff to play a game for the franchise.
