India U19 created history on February 5 as they went on to win their fifth U19 World Cup. They beat England U19 by four wickets to win the 2022 edition. Thus, Yash Dhull became the fifth Indian captain to win the U19 WC.
This led to several stalwarts praising the youngsters. As a matter of fact, the second ODI between the senior team's of India and West Indies saw the Dhull-led side at the venue. Although the game was being played behind closed doors, the BCCI invited the budding stars for the game.
Accompanying them was VVS Laxman, who happens to be the director of the National cricket academy. In fact, the board took to Twitter to post an image of them watching the game. It is to be noted that the second one-dayer was taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
“Our #U19CWC-winning team in attendance here in Ahmedabad,” wrote BCCI in the caption of their post.

In the meanwhile, the hosts ended up beating the men in maroon by 44 runs. Thus, they have now sealed the three-match ODI series as well. Prasidh Krishna went on to win the player of the match award for his four-fer. Indian captain Rohit Sharma was mighty impressed with his team, and praised his teammates.
"Obviously winning the series is a good feeling. There were some challenges. The partnership between Rahul and Surya had a lot of maturity. We got to a respectable total in the end. We knew we could fight it out. The entire unit came out and bowled superbly. These guys need to bat under pressure and that is how you will judge their character. Surya had to take his time and understand what the team wants from him. KL also batted superbly as he is consistently up and down in the order. I have been asked to try different things, so that was something different (on Pant opening). We wanted to try it one game and is not a permanent thing. Shikhar should be back for the next game," said Rohit Sharma during the post-match presentation.
"We don't mind losing a few games while trying out a few things. Because it is important to look at the long term goals. We will see what works out well for the team combination (for the final ODI). I was a little surprised to see no dew. I have never seen a spell like that in India for a long time now. Bowled with a lot of pace and kept it going. The others complimented him. When you have five bowlers and Deepak being sixth, you always need to keep rotating the bowlers," he added.
