‘Batting position nayi par score wahi’ - Fans bash Rohit Sharma for scoring duck against CSK in IPL 2023

Rohit Sharma was in action on 6 May 2023 when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) at Chepauk in the ongoing IPL. However, MI fans were hoping for a big knock from their skipper as Rohit has been having a terrible season with the bat. Before this clash, he scored 184 runs in nine matches, at an average of 20.44.

He only managed to score one fifty. In the last game against Punjab Kings, MI had a target of 215 runs. But, he failed again as an opener as Rohit manage a three-ball duck only. So, fans were hoping to see Rohit making a comeback with a solid knock against MS Dhoni and his men at Chepauk.

Speaking of the match, MI lost the toss and CSK asked them to bat first. After losing the toss, Rohit said: “Going pretty well, had a couple of good games, just about continuing the momentum. We have some worries, but we've started to do well. It's been challenging to find the right players and the right combinationbs. We know our strengths and the players who can fit in. Two changes for is - Kumar Kartikeya is OUT, a debut for Raghav Goyal. Tilak Varma is ill, he's replaced by Tristan Stubbs.”

But, fans were left shocked not to see him coming out as an opener along with Ishan Kishan. Instead of him, the Aussie all-rounder, Cameron Green came out to bat. However, Green scored only six runs off four balls. After his dismissal, skipper Rohit came out to bat at number three. But, again it was a disappointing outing for him as Rohit scored a three-ball duck. Hence, it was two consecutive ducks for the MI skipper in this IPL. After this, an unwanted record has been achieved by Rohit Sharma. He has now the most number of ducks (16) in the history of IPL than any other player.
