On 6 August 2023, Team India locked horns with West Indies in the second game of the ongoing five-match T20I series in Providence. The Windies won the series opener and hence, they were looking for another win to make it 2-0. While the Men in Blue were looking for a comeback.
Speaking of the match, Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first. Ravi Bishnoi got a chance in this match instead of Kuldeep Yadav. For India, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill came out as openers. But, Gill’s poor run of form in this tour continued once again as he got out on just seven runs off nine balls.

Then, Suryakumar Yadav failed at number three as he got run out for just one run. Ishan played some shots and got out after scoring 27 runs off 23 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Tilak Varma showed his class in his second game also as he brought up his maiden T20I fifty. Tilak scored just 51 runs off 41 balls. Including five fours and one six. Skipper Hardik Pandya was looking solid until he got out to Alzarri Joseph after scoring 24 runs off 18 balls, including two sixes. Finally, India somehow managed to cross the 150-run mark and finally, posted 152 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. For WI, Romario Shepherd, Joseph, and Akeal Hosein took two wickets each.
In reply, India’s bowlers were on fire as the home side lost the first three wickets for 32 runs in 3.4 overs. In the first over only, Hardik Pandya took two wickets. After that, Rovman Powell scored 21 runs off 19 balls, including one six and one four. But, Nicholas Pooran showed his big-hitting skills as he notched another T20I fifty in his career from just 29 balls. He and Shimron Hetmyer were looking solid as the home side reached 117 runs for four wickets after 13 overs. In the remaining seven overs, they needed just 36 runs. Pooran got out after scoring 67 runs off 40 balls. Then, they suffered a batting collapse and suddenly, the Windies were on 129 runs for eight wickets in 16 overs. Still, the home side managed to chase down the target in 18.5 overs with two wickets in hand.
