Indian T20 League teams' owners from franchises such as Chennai, Mumbai, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, and Delhi have reportedly managed to bag the sides in the new South Africa T20 League. Cricket South Africa introduced the bidding for the teams and all these franchises came up with trump. They will now own teams of the different parts of the rainbow in the league starting in early 2023.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, P Sanjeev Goenka group, the owner of the Lucknow team, bagged the Durban team while the Rajasthan owners brought the Paarl team. Jindal South West Sports, which is the co-owner of Delhi, brought the Pretoria team. The Chennai owners brought the Johannesburg franchise. On the other hand, Mumbai, owned by Reliance Industries, brought the Cape Town franchise.
Last but not the least, Sun TV Group, which owns the Hyderabad team, bought the Port Elizabeth franchise. Notably, the formal announcement is yet to be made on the names of the teams and owners of the team as reported by ESPNcricinfo. Meanwhile, Graeme Smith, the director of South Africa cricket, will be the head of the new T20 League.
