Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson is once again the talk of the town among all the Indian cricket fans after being overlooked from the playing XI of the second of the three-match ODI series. Notably, he played a knock of 36 runs in the first match of the series when he got a chance to feature in the playing XI.
“Instead of Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar comes in and Deepak Hooda comes in place of Sanju Samson,” said stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan at the time of the toss.
“We would have bowled first as there’s moisture in the wicket. Even in the last game, the wicket was seaming for the first 10-15 overs, we got to keep the positive intent and go for the runs. We only need 10 percent of improvement, and it makes a huge impact and especially in the death bowling, we got to be a bit smarter,” he added later.
Meanwhile, Samson was seen helping the ground staff when the game was not in action due to the rain at Seddon Park. The video of this moment has now gone viral on social media, and it also compelled our fans to go emotional. They reacted in the comment section of the video and praised the gesture from the Kerala cricketer.

Speaking of the second ODI between New Zealand, it has been called off due to the heavy rain. India had scored 89 runs for the loss of one wicket in 12.5 overs when the rain stopped the play. Suryakumar Yadav who came at number 3 today, went unbeaten on 34 runs off 25 balls with two boundaries and three sixes.
Coming back to Sanju Samson’s omission and Dhawan’s statement, the fans are really not getting the logic of benching the 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter just after a chance in an ODI match.
