After the match, former Pakistan batter, Misbah Ul Haq named Kohli as the number-one cricketer of the generation. He said to News 24 Sports, "Virat Kohli is the number 1 cricketer of this generation, he has dominated all formats".  Kohli is the active cricketer with the most international centuries at 75. He also had a massively successful IPL 2023 with the bat with two centuries in the season.

Misbah Ul Haq believes Virat Kohli’s revival began in the Asia Cup 2022

According to Misbah-ul-Haq, the 34-year-old's comeback started during the Asia Cup. “Temperament and self-belief; when you have these things, you can produce an innings like that,” Misbah was quoted as saying by SportsYaari. “You think that was Virat’s revival but I believe it began in the Asia Cup. He regained his touch in that tournament,” the 48-year-old added.

Then Misbah emphasised the value of self-belief and described how Kohli's ability to be "in the zone" aided him against Pakistan. “Self-belief is very important. You needed around 40 runs in two overs against a top-class bowling attack on a tough wicket. Hardik (Pandya) is also a top-class player, but he lost his shape that day. He went hard but he couldn’t middle the ball properly. If you have the right temperament and remain focused, you can cash in on the opportunity. Kohli was in his zone, and the two sixes he hit against Haris (Rauf) changed the game,” Misbah further added.
