'Babar ka kya hoga phir?' - Fans troll Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan post Shahid Afridi's 'not considering poor strike-rate' remarks

Pakistan cricket team under the captaincy of Babar Azam is currently in action against New Zealand in the second and last of the two-match Test series at the National Stadium in Karachi. Following the conclusion of this Test series, both teams will take on each other in the upcoming three-match ODI series starting on Monday, the 9^th of January at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Meanwhile, the interim chief selector of the national team of Pakistan, Shahid Afridi has recently come up with a big statement with context to the selection of players in the T20I squad of the men in green.

“No batter will be selected in T20 for Pakistan who doesn't have a strike rate of more than 135 in domestic cricket,” Shahid Afridi was quoted as saying by Geo News.

Just after this statement from Afridi, the fans didn’t take too long in trolling the national team’s skipper Babar Azam and his opening mate Mohammad Rizwan as they both have strike rates of only 125.5 and 124.9 respectively. They took a dig at both the batting star for their lower strike rates and subsequently, a few of the fans assumed that if this criterion falls in place, the T20I career of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan would be over.

Notably, skipper Babar Azam had a horrific run in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 last year as he could register only a half-century to his name in the first semi-final against New Zealand.

Apart from this, both Babar and Rizwan were on a gaining end of a sort of harsh criticism from former Pakistan pacer Aqib Javed before the commencement of the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

“These two openers are not going to win you tournaments … Take the two openers , No.1 and No.2 players in the world. But such a player should know what to do. The vice-captain plays for 15 overs – starts playing when the asking rate is 8 and leaves after taking it to 17! ,” told Aqib Javed to reporters.
