Pakistani skipper and world number one T20I batter Babar Azam is enduring a poor run form with the bat since the start of the Asia Cup 2022. He could score the highest individual score of only 30 runs in the tournament. This poor string also continued for him in the final of the tournament.
The 27-year-old star batter fell prey to the Sri Lankan bowler Liyanagamage in the fourth over of the Pakistan innings in the final of the tournament. It was the time when the men in green were only on the score of 22 runs in 3.1 overs. Skipper Babar could score only five runs off six balls without any boundary.
Another consecutive failure of Babar Azam gave a chance to cricket fans to troll him on the name of former Indian skipper and senior batter Virat Kohli. It is because that he tweeted for Kohli to come back in the form and wished him luck. Fans took to Twitter for trolling Babar.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Babar Azam’s failure in the final:
Seems like #BabarAzam𓃵 has entered the same zone #Kohli has just got out: "Nothing wrong in batting or approach but not able to score as usual." Hope he gets out of this phase quickly. He can get back to this zone when playing against India😎#PAKvsSL #SLvPAK #AsiaCup2022Final

Discussing furthermore the match, then the Sri Lankan team was looking in trouble when they lost their five wickets only on the score of 58 runs in 8.5 overs. But the amazing knock of 71 runs off just 45 balls with six boundaries and three sixes from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and supporting effort of 36 runs off 21 balls from Wanindu Hasaranga helped the Lankan tigers to post a decent total of 170 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Rawalpindi-born pacer Haris Rauf ended up as the highest wicket-taker with three wickets for Pakistan by conceding 29 runs in his quota of four overs.
While chasing the target, Sri Lanka started very poorly as Madhushanka conceded 9 extra before bowling the first fair delivery of the second innings in the first over.
Earlier in the Asia Cup 2022, both teams locked horns with each other in the last match of the super-4 round of the tournament. Sri Lankan completely outplayed the men in the green and registered a win by five wickets to record their fourth consecutive win in the tournament.
