Team India are all set to take on West Indies in the second game of the ongoing five-match T20I series on 6 August 2023. After losing the series opener, the Men in Blue will look to make a comeback in the second game. However, their batters failed to chase a 150-run target and that left all fans frustrated.

So, ahead of that clash, the former Team India cricketer, Wasim Jaffer came up with a suggestion and claimed that Yashasvi Jaiswal should get a chance in this game ahead of Ishan Kishan. Ishan played the first game but scored just six runs. He was the Player of the ODI series but failed to continue that form in that game.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal announced his arrival in International cricket in some style when the team decided to hand him the Test debut cap against the Windies. He already showed his class by smashing a century in the first Test. In IPL 2023, he enjoyed a great tournament as Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 matches, at an average of 48.07 with a strike rate of 163.61 for Rajasthan Royals (RR). He also notched up the fastest fifty (in just 13 balls) in the history of the tournament.

Speaking to Cricinfo, Jaffer said that Jaiswal should play as an opener in the second game. He said: “I want to see Yashasvi Jaiswal. He should play as an opening batter. I want to see Jaiswal in place of Ishan Kishan. Ishan Kishan’s T20I form worries me. In the last 15 innings, he hasn’t even scored a 40, the strike rate is also too low. So, that’s a cause of concern, but he was in good form in ODIs. It’s a different format (T20I). He also had an ordinary IPL season. Why not give an opportunity to the boy who played very well in the IPL? He won the emerging player award and is confident. I’ll definitely look towards that change.”
