On 1 May 2023, the stage at Ekana Cricket Stadium lit up when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 18 runs in the ongoing IPL. But, Virat Kohli got involved in a verbal spat with Naveen-ul-Haq and that left all fans crazy. The former Team India player and LSG mentor, Gautam Gambhir also got involved.
Kohli was fully pumped up since the first over when they came out to defend 127 runs against the home side. His aggressive nature put some pressure on LSG batter and that crumbled them. Now, a video has been posted by the franchise where Kohli was seen celebrating the victory in the dressing room and came up with a bold statement.
“It’s a very sweet win, feels very good for many reasons.” - Virat Kohli
Speaking of the video, Virat Kohli was seen saying: “If you can give it, you gotta take it. Otherwise don’t give it.” It seemed that he pointed out the gestures Gambhir and LSG players made after winning the reverse fixture at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Gambhir was seen shutting up the Bengaluru crowd with a finger on his lips. Kohli also thanked the overwhelming support he and RCB received from the crowd at Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Virat Kohli was seen asking the crowd to be loud and clear and they did not disappoint him. Despite it being the home ground for LSG, fans were seen chanting Kohli and RCB throughout the game. He said: “It was a really important win on the road for us. The fact that we got more support than the home crowd is an unbelievable feeling. It tells you all about how much we liked as a team and how people come out and back us and it’s a very sweet win, feels very good for many reasons. But, more importantly for the kind of character we showed defending that total. I think everyone had the belief that we can do it and we ended up on the winning side which is great.”
Here is how fans have reacted to the statement shared by Kohli:
