The much-anticipated ODI World Cup 2023 will return to India after 12 years. 2011 was the last ODI World Cup that took place in India. But it was co-hosted with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Team India went on to win the tournament becoming the first team to win the World Cup on home soil. The trend was then continued by Australia who won the World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2015 and then England in the most recent 2019 edition.
For any World Cup, the clashes between arch-rivals India and Pakistan are the most awaited ones. Especially after 2008, when the bilateral tours between the two countries were suspended in light of the Mumbai attacks of 26 November 2008. The two teams have only faced off in major events like the World Cups, T20 World Cups, Asia Cups, etc. The tournament will be solely hosted by India in 2023 between 5 October and 19 November.
India vs Pakistan clash in the ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled for 15 October
The headline clash between India and Pakistan is set to take place in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 15 October. Ever since the schedule for the World Cup was made public, people have started their preparations for the big event. The tickets for the World Cup 2023 will be made live next month. In the meantime, travelling fans have made arrangements for their travel and stay. In light of the same, the prices of air tickets and railways tickets to and from Ahmedabad have soared to new heights for dates in and around October 15.
Following travel, the next big requirement for travelling fans is accommodation. Talking of hotels and guest houses, while most of them are already pre-booked, the few remaining ones are going for prices unseen and unheard of earlier. To counter the issue, some fans, as reported by Ahmedabad Mirror, have started booking hospital beds. This comes as a severely desperate move because healthcare facilities like hospitals and nursing homes must always be available for patients and emergency cases. Accommodating fans comes as an immoral move on the part of fans as well as the hospital authorities allowing this.
Here's how fans reacted:
