Jasprit Bumrah has been India’s pace ace ever since his rise. Only a few India pacers have been able to inflict fear on batters like Jasprit Bumrah did in the last two years. However, suffering a back issue, the fast bowler has been out of competitive action since September 2022. He has been rehabilitating in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and a possible return was earlier reported to be during India’s tour of Ireland. Indian Cricket Board honorary secretary Jay Shah confirmed the same in his latest press conference. "Bumrah is completely fit, and he may be part of the Ireland series," he said.

Currently, Team India are engaged in a multi-format tour of the West Indies. They have already won the two-match Test series by 1-0 and have started the three-match ODI series with a five-wicket win in the first ODI. They will contest five T20Is after the ODIs. Following this, India will travel to Ireland for a three-match T20I series in Ireland. A second-string squad will be sent for the tour with VVS Laxman as the head coach. Regular T20I skipper Hardik Pandya is expected to be rested which means vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav could be seen in a captaincy role.

Jay Shah provided updates on ODI World Cup Ticket sales

The press conference was primarily to send out updates regarding the preparations for the ODI World Cup 2021 to be hosted by India. The Indian Board secretary said that there could be a few changes in the World Cup schedule although they aren’t planning to tamper too much with the venues. The major update was with the ticket sales. Shah mentioned that the upcoming World Cup will not have e-Tickets and fans will have to retain physical copies for admission into the Stadiums.

“We can’t use e-tickets this time around but will ensure to have physical tickets redemption at 7-8 centers well in advance. But the physical ticket needs to be retained. It will get difficult to manage e-tickets at high-capacity venues like Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Our plan is to start using e-tickets more in bilaterals first and then take it to multi-nation events like the World Cup,” he said.
