The eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League is going on in Pakistan. Currently, Multan Sultans are at the top of the table with four wins out of five games. But, the overall security regarding the tournament has been a concern for the Pakistan Super League. The Punjab government asked for a hefty amount from the PCB to host PSL matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi.

As of now, all matches until the 27 February will take place as planned in Lahore. But, after that, matches can be shifted to Karachi. But, on 26 February, the league dealt with another major blow as security cameras got stolen from the Gaddafi stadium, in Pakistan. Reports have come out that fiber optic cables laid on the sides were stolen also.

Reports also suggested that the batteries of the generators were there to get installed for lighting in the Gaddafi Stadium. Those were also stolen. Police have registered two cases so far and no arrests have been made. Speaking of the security of PSL, the Punjab government asked for Rs450 million from the PCB for making security arrangements in Lahore and Rawalpindi for the matches.

After a recent meeting with Board delegates, it seemed that Najam Sethi has refused to pay such an amount. A source close to the whole matter opened up to Dawn. He said: “The owners refused to pay a penny more than the amount of Rs50 million that has already been paid to the Punjab government for providing food to the security officials during the matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi.”

“That message was conveyed to the government delegation, which did not show any relaxation in its demand. The PCB is wary that once such a huge amount is paid for PSL matches, it would set a precedent for the future and the government would ask for it in every international series,” the source concluded. Now, after the reports of cameras being stolen, fans went crazy and came up to troll Pakistan.
