Shubman Gill has become an integral part of Team India since he made an entry into the International Cricket arena. Currently, he is one of the mandatory names for all three formats and has become the first-choice opening partner of skipper, Rohit Sharma. Now, one of the big tests awaits him in the upcoming Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup.

All eyes will be on the opening pair of Gill and Rohit as good starts from them can be crucial for Team India to post huge totals on the board. Hence, as quoted by the Governing Body of Cricket, Gill opened up on his experience of opening with Rohit and how that can help the team to thrive in the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup also.

Gill said: “It feels great to be able to open with him, especially knowing that all the focus is on him,” Gill began, looking to Rohit’s presence in the eyes of opponents and fans. He's someone who likes the other batters to go and just express himself and play the way I want to play the game. So in that nature, he gives the players full freedom for how they want to express their game.”
“I think because his (Rohit’s) targeted areas are a bit different (to mine). He loves to go aerial in the Powerplay. And I'm someone who likes to find the gaps and keep getting those boundaries, and he’s someone who likes to hit sixes. So I think that combination works well,” the young batter further added.
So far, both these batters have batted together on nine occasions and scored 685 runs at an average of 76.11. Hence, seeing such an outstanding start from the pair, fans will hope for more top partnerships in the coming days in the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.
