Bangladesh fans were left surprised when they saw Mehidy Hasan Miraz coming out as an opener along with Mohammad Naim. In the first match against Sri Lanka, he batted at the number seven position and scored only five runs off 11 balls. But, in this match, he grabbed the opportunity with both hands and smashed 112* runs off 119 balls before getting retired hurt. He smashed seven fours and three sixes. Afghanistan had a disappointing start to their 335-run target after losing Rahmanullah Gurbaz for just one run. But, after that, Ibrahim Zadran scored 75 runs off 74 balls and skipper, Hashmatullah Shahidi smashed 51 runs off 60 balls. But, their efforts went in vain as the next batters failed to score big and finally, they fell short by 89 runs with 5.3 overs to spare. Ibrahim put up a 78-run partnership for the second wicket with Rahmat Shah while Shahidi stitched a 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Najibullah Zadran.
