The stage is getting ready for an epic showdown between Pakistan and India on 10 September in the ‘Super 4’ stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The match is scheduled to take place at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. India already took on the Men in Green in the group stage earlier on 2 September. But, that match got called off after one innings due to heavy rain.
Now, as per reports, rain is forecasted again on 10 September and hence, a reserve day has been incorporated on 11 September. The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) released a statement that read that the match will resume on 11 September from the point it was suspended. Interestingly, all the other ‘Super 4’ matches are also reportedly in danger of rain. But, only reserve day has been incorporated for the India vs Pakistan clash.
All ‘Super 4’ matches in Sri Lanka are scheduled to take place in Colombo
The official statement also claimed that fans can use their tickets on the reserve day. Speaking of the form of these teams, the Men in Green are currently the number one-ranked ODI team. They thrashed Nepal in the group stage and won convincingly against Bangladesh in the ‘Super 4’ opener. Their bowlers, especially pacers have been in terrific form as on all three occasions, they have managed to take all 10 wickets.
On the other hand, India had a nervy start against Pakistan before the match got called off. Against Nepal, the Men in Blue registered a comfortable win but now, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma and his men on how they will perform during the ‘Super 4’ matches. Seeing the forecast of rain, initially, reports were there that the ‘Super 4’ matches could get shifted to Dambulla or Pallekele. But, that did not happen and now, the matches are going to happen in Colombo as pre-decided. Even, the final of this tournament is also scheduled to take place in Colombo on 17 September.
