Afghanistan dominated the Sri Lankan team in the entire phase of the match
Speaking of the match, then the Afghanistan bowlers completely dominated the match from the very first over of the match. They bundled up the official hosts of the tournament only on the small score of 105 runs in only 19.4 overs. Fazalhaq Farooqi scalped three wickets for the team. Whereas skipper Mohammad Nabi claimed two wickets each along with 1 wicket scalped by Naveen-ul-Haq.
Chasing the target in the second innings, the opening pair of Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz provided a strong start for Afghanistan. They both made a partnership of 83 runs for the first wicket. Rahmanullah Gurbaz ended up as the highest scorer of the match with his 40-run knock along with crucial 37 runs from Hazratullah Zazai. Opening batter Hazratullah Zazai went unbeaten to cross the line for Afghanistan and they chased down the target only in 10.1 overs with almost 40 overs and eight wickets to spare.
Although, this match also witnessed controversy because of an umpiring decision at the time of Pathum Nissanka’s dismissal.
