Team India managed a comfortable victory over Australia in Nagpur in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Men in Blue defeated the Aussies by an inning and 132 runs in the series opener. Hence, the Australian fans were disappointed with the performance of their fans. The former India cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar also opened up about the real reasons behind such a humiliating loss for Australia.

He claimed that the Australian team were affected mentally by so much talk about the Nagpur pitch before the match by the Australian media only. They batted so badly especially against the Indian spinners that they scored 177 runs and 91 runs respectively in two innings. Now, he came up with a bold prediction about the final result of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.    

"They have been spooked by their own media.” - Sunil Gavaskar on Australia

While speaking to India Today TV, Sunil Gavaskar said: "They have been spooked by their own media. Who's been doing the talking? Not the Indian media. Nobody in India has been talking about it. It is only their own media that has made a hullabaloo about the pitch. That this will not turn, that will not turn. I would imagine that they would have talked about the pitch not being done for the left-handers. Two of our left-handers got 150 between themselves. If the Aussies are smart, they will tell their media, 'Hello guys, let us play our cricket. You do what you have to write.'

He also slammed the approach from the Aussies. It certainly was. You didn't expect the Australians to collapse in the manner that they did. Yes, it was always on the cards that in the first Test a touring team does struggle before they get used to the conditions. I don't think the Australians helped themselves by not coming and playing some practice games, albeit it might have been against the kind of net bowlers that they would use. But if they had actually played a game, it would have helped them considerably,” Sunil Gavaskar concluded.  Now, he came up with a bold prediction for team India that they will defeat the Aussies 4-0 with ease. While speaking to SportsTak, he did the prediction. But, fans did not find it interesting as they started to blame him for being so overconfident.
