If you had gone through the social media platform, Twitter, today, it would take you by surprise. “Axar Shades” hashtag is running on the platform and Indian industrialists like Anand Mahindra has added flair to it by participating in the tweet trend.
In his tweet, Anand Mahindra posted a picture with a sunglass mentioning “ An old photo...reproduced in his honour…”.

The context behind the tweet is fairly simple. India registered a 2-1 victory against Australia in the recently concluded T20I series. Going 1-0 behind after the first game, India staged a comeback in the next two games to win the series.
The authorities judged the left-arm all-rounder Axar Patel as “Man of the Series” for his valuable contribution to the team. The Indian Cricket Board roped in Axar Patel as a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, who is nursing the injury and will remain unavailable for the World Cup.
The Gujarat all-rounder has taken his chances beautifully and clinched eight wickets from three games. The player conceded only 63 runs from his 10 overs. Impressed by his performances, Anand Mahindra wore a replica of sunglass that Axar Patel uses in both red ball and white ball cricket.
It is worth mentioning that the healthy banter began on the back of Axar Patel’s fine performance against England in 2021. In three Tests, the left-arm bowler picked 27 wickets from six innings to derail England in India.
He had also supported the team with his batting skills in the fourth Test match, where he scored 43 runs to forge the partnership with Washington Sundar. The player was adjudged Man of the Series for his performance against the “Three Lions”.
After sealing the victory in the Test series, Anand Mahindra had posted his desire to buy sunglasses like that of Axar Patel to congratulate the player for his contributions to the national team.
I said I was going to get myself a pair of ‘Axar’s shades’ to commemorate the series win. Bought a pair (thanks Sporting Tool Relish!) & all set to watch the match tonight. I know, I know; no shades needed to watch TV & wife thinks I’m crazy but maybe it’ll be a good luck charm! pic.twitter.com/SKkE9z3D4N
