On 21 May 2023, Mumbai Indians (MI) will play their last group match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing IPL. Currently, they are in the sixth position with 14 points in 13 games. So, a win in this match will take them to 16 points and that can give them a good chance to seal their place in the playoffs.

Rohit Sharma has been having a poor IPL so far with the bat. In 13 matches, he has scored 257 runs, at an average of 19.77 and a strike rate of 131.12. He has smashed only one fifty. So, MI fans have been very disappointed with the performance of their star batter.

Regarding that, the former Kiwi cricketer, Simon Doull came up with an epic suggestion for Rohit during his recent interaction with Cricbuzz. He said: "I was a big proponent of him <Virat Kohli> giving up the captaincy of RCB, much like I am with Rohit, now that he is the captain of India. I just think this is the tournament where he needs to be free and just play.”

"When I talked about Virat and the captaincy, it was like every pressure was on him. Indian captaincy, three formats, RCB captaincy, and just to see that taken away, and it was never going to go to someone who he wasn't going to respect. So there are only two or three players in world cricket that could have gone to Bangalore and been captain,” Doull concluded.
