“I want to win championships and that is all we play for.” - Rohit Sharma after WTC 2023 final loss

Since Rohit became the full-time captain across all three formats, the Men in Blue had chances to win major titles like the Asia Cup 2022, the 20-20 World Cup 2022, and WTC 2023. But, in the Asia Cup, they did not qualify for the final. Then, in the 20-20 World Cup, England knocked out them in the semi-final. So, fans are worried as ODI World Cup is all set to take place in India later this year. Now, reports have come out that he will continue his captaincy in the Test series in West Indies. But, after that, he will sit with the Indian Cricket Board officials to discuss his future as the skipper in the longest format of the game.

After the loss, during the post-match press conference, Rohit said: "See obviously I have gotten the job to make sure that to take Indian cricket forward every time whoever it is or someone else. For me also it remains the same, I want to win games, I want to win championships and that is all we play for. It will be nice to win some titles, win some extraordinary series. Having said that, we don't want to put too much pressure on ourselves by overthinking this kind of stuff. As a captain, like I said I want to win championships and that is all the sport is all about. For me, it will be nice if I win one or two championships when I decide to move on from this job"
