In a one-sided cricket encounter at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, September 11, India emerged victorious against Australia in the 2nd ODI, securing a 2-0 winning lead in the 3-match ODI series. The match was dominated by outstanding performances with both bat and ball from the Indian team.

Asked to bat first, India's batting innings was nothing short of spectacular, as they amassed a staggering 399 runs in their first innings. This commanding total was primarily built on the back of brilliant centuries from Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. Gill's aggressive strokeplay and Iyer's composed batting left the Australian bowlers struggling to find answers.

Gill scored 104 runs off 97 balls which included 6 fours and 4 sixes while Iyer scored 105 runs off just 90 balls and smashed 11 fours and 3 sixes. Australian bowlers were clueless throughout the innings as most of the bowlers were leaking runs at an economy rate of more than 7 per over.

Chasing the daunting target, Australia suffered some early breakthroughs, courtesy of Prasidh Krishna who picked up two consecutive wickets in his first over. However, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne steadied the ship, and the left-handed batter also smashed his half-century.

But it was the spin duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja that wreaked havoc on the Australian batting lineup. Ashwin's guile and Jadeja's precision spun a web around the Australian batters, leaving them in disarray. The spin twins combined to take crucial wickets and restrict Australia to a modest total, well short of the target.

The victory not only sealed the ODI series for India but also showcased their dominance on home soil. It was a comprehensive team effort, with batters and bowlers complementing each other seamlessly. As the series now stands at 2-0 in favour of India, all eyes are on the final ODI as Australia looks to salvage some pride, while India aims to complete a clean sweep and continue their winning streak.
