Meanwhile, in the game, Delhi skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the first three wickets fell to full tosses of Issy Wong, the first-ever player to take a hat-trick in the league. The likes of Shafali Varma, Alice Capsey, and Jemimah Rodrigues got out to full tosses that were swinging away from the batters.

Meanwhile, at 35/3, the likes of skipper Lanning and Marzanne Kapp put together 38 runs. However, when it looked like the partnership will go on further and take the team to a decent score, the latter got run out. From 73/3, the team was reduced to 79/9 in no time. The last batting pair of Shikha Pandey (27*) and Radha Yadav (27*) put together 52 runs for the last wicket.

This helped the team reach 131/9, a fighting total given the circumstances. For the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side, Issy Wong and Hayley Matthews took three wickets each. On the other hand, Amelia Kerr took two.

In reply, Mumbai had a poor start as they lost the wickets of Matthews and Yastika Bhatia early. At 23/2, the likes of skipper Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt put together important 72 runs to provide some stability to the chase. In the 17th over right after the batting team's strategic timeout, Kaur got run out after scoring 35 off 39 balls.

However, unlike India's semifinal against Australia in the Women's 20-20 World Cup 2023, the run-out didn't have a match-turning impact on the game. Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr took the team over the line with three balls to spare and seven wickets in hand.
