In the table-toppers clash between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Super Six, the former World Champions won the toss and elected to bowl first. The winner of this game would have easily qualified for the final of the tournament. However, losing wouldn't have meant the end of the journey as both teams were yet to lose a game.

Meanwhile, in the game, the Lankan Lions once again showed why they were expected to sail through to the final. After all, despite not being the best which they used to be till 2015, the team has had enough resources to do well. The bowlers once again complimented the decision. They bowled out the Chevrons for 165 runs. For the 1996 winners, Maheesh Theekshana took four wickets.

On the other hand, Dilshan Madushanka took three wickets while Matheesha Pathirana took two and skipper Dasun Shanaka took one. Despite facing batting collapses against Scotland and the Netherlands, the Asian side was expected to go over the line with ease as the target was small.

In reply, the Dimuth Karunaratne-led side had a great start as the skipper himself and Pathum Nissanka scored 103 runs for the first wicket. The latter went on to score an unbeaten hundred. The team won by nine wickets and 16.5 overs to spare, giving themselves a massive NRR boost in their already superior Net Run Rate.
