India competed against Sri Lanka in the first T20I on January 3, Tuesday and it was the Indian team led by Hardik Pandya who tasted victory after defeating the Lankan Lions by just 2 runs. To add more, it was captain Dasun Shanaka who inched the Sri Lankan team closer to the target of 163, only to fall short of it by 3 runs.

While Deepak Hooda hurling at the umpire during the first innings made the internet go crazy, Umran Malik’s 155 km/h delivery to dismiss the Sri Lankan skipper turned out into another moment that set the social media on fire, with fans claiming that the Indian pacer is not so far away from breaking Shoaib Akhtar’s record of fastest delivery (161 km/h).

While Hooda clinched the Player of the Match award for his 23-ball 41, Shivam Mavi stood up with the ball for the team with his four-for, eventually pulling off an unbelievable win. Malik, on the other hand, picked a two-for under his belt and made the T20I cap count on a crucial day.

I try my best to practice according to the number I bat: Deepak Hooda

“I try my best to practice according to the number I bat. We were discussing it is a matter of 2-3 hits and that we will get with some momentum. I want to contribute in every manner. I am coming on the back of domestic cricket and know how to target the spinners,” Hooda was quoted as saying after the match.

“It was (our game to lose). Really disappointing with the way we finished. In Wankhede you need the batsmen to help you cross the line. I use the matchups really well and that's the reason we restricted India to 162. It is still the first game and they (batters) are really good bunch of youngsters, they will come good,” said the Sri Lankan skipper Shanaka after the match.

As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Umran Malik’s fiery delivery:
