Virender Sehwag is known as one of the best openers that ever played for India. However, currently, he generally works as a cricket pundit. Now, an image has gone viral where Sehwag was seen wearing the new Team India jersey. Seeing him in Team India’s jersey, fans shared their views.
Meanwhile, recent reports have already suggested that Sehwag might be one of the leading candidates t become the next chief selector for Men in Blue. But, he is reportedly looking for better wages for the post. The last chief selector for Team India was Chetan Sharma who was from the North Zone.

Virender Sehwag’s international career came to an end in 2013
So, the next chief selector is going to be from North Zone only. The annual earning of the chairman of the selection panel is INR 1 Lakh while other selectors earn INR 90 lakh. As per a source close to the Board, Virender Sehwag was asked to apply for the post even before Anil Kumble. Another source also claimed Sehwag as the one and only realistic option for the post from North Zone.
As quoted by PTI, the source said: “During CoA’s time, Viru was asked to apply for the head coach’s job and then it went to Anil Kumble. It is unlikely he will apply himself and also the pay package isn’t something that will be financially viable for someone of his stature. But if we talk about stature, only he makes the cut from North Zone.”
Speaking of Virender Sehwag played 374 matches across all three formats for the Men in Blue within a span from 1999 to 2013. In those matches, he scored 17253 runs, including 72 fifties and 38 centuries. In the red ball format, he is the first Indian to score a triple century. He smashed two triple centuries in his illustrative career. Sehwag worked as a mentor for Kings XI Punjab (formerly known as Punjab Kings) from 2016 to 2018.
