New Zealand asserted dominance over Pakistan in the fourth T20I of the five-match series, securing a seven-wicket victory On Friday, January 19 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. Opting to bat first, Pakistan set a respectable total of 158/5 in 20 overs, with Mohammad Rizwan delivering a stellar unbeaten innings of 90* from 63 balls. In response, New Zealand successfully chased down the target in 18.1 overs.

The home team faced a challenging start in their chase as Shaheen Afridi caused havoc with the new ball, getting rid of the in-form Finn Allen (8) in the opening over. The left-arm seamer continued his impact by dismissing Allen's opening partner Tim Seifert for a golden duck in the same over, leaving the Kiwis struggling at 10/2 after the first over.


The Pakistan skipper, Shaheen Afridi claiming figures of 3/34, dismissed Will Young (4 off 8) in the third over, leaving the Kiwis at 20/3 after 2.4 overs. Witnessing their team in distress, Daryl Mitchell (72*) and Glenn Phillips (70*) forged a significant 139-run partnership for the fourth wicket, guiding their team to victory with 11 balls to spare.

At the beginning of the day, Pakistan faced a dismal start, losing their opener Saim Ayub (1) in the second over with just five runs on the board. Despite the early setback, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam (19) provided stability to the innings, building a 51-run partnership off 31 balls. Adam Milne played a crucial role for his side, taking the wicket of Babar in the seventh over, disrupting the partnership.
Fakhar Zaman (9), Sahibzada Farhan (1), and Iftikhar Ahmed (10 off 14) struggled to contribute, intensifying the pressure on Rizwan. Nevertheless, the wicketkeeper-batter remained resilient, playing an outstanding innings of 90* (63) to guide his team to a total of 158/5. Matt Henry (2/22) and Lockie Ferguson (2/27) each took two wickets for New Zealand.
