Ellyse Perry has been a great player for Australia Women’s team over the years for her all-around performance across all formats. On 13 February 2023, the auction of the Women’s T20 League took place at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Over 400 players participated in the auction process.

However, fans were hoping for a bidding war between franchises for Ellyse Perry. Her base price was INR 50 Lakhs. Both Delhi and Bangalore franchises began an intense bidding war for the star Australian all-rounder. But, it was the Bangalore franchise that bought her for a whopping amount of INR 1.7 crores for the WTL 2023.

Ellyse Perry made a fantastic comeback in the T20Is back in 2022 in India. Australia won that series 4-1 while Ellyse Perry scored 165 runs in three innings, at an average of 48.66. In the home T20I series against Pakistan Women, she was the highest run-scorer. Perry scored 57 runs in just one inning. With the ball, she took two wickets in two matches. But, in the ODI series against the Women in Green, Perry scored just 17 runs in two innings and failed to grab any wickets.

On 11 February 2023, Australia Women kicked off their 20-20 World Cup campaign with a win over New Zealand Women. In that match, Ellyse Perry scored 40 runs off 22 balls, including three fours and two sixes. With the ball, she took just one wicket for four runs in one over. So, fans will be eager to see her in action again in the upcoming matches of the World Cup with the same form in both departments. However, as the Bangalore franchise bought her for such an amount, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media platforms. The Australian all-rounder will join Smriti Mandhana in the Bangalore franchise for the inaugural edition of WTL 2023.
