It was SB’s second game after winning the first game while it was WF’s first game. So, both teams were looking for a win. But, WF managed to win the game by four runs but Smriti Mandhana hit the headlines as she hit another fifty.  She remained not out on 70* runs but failed to chase down the target.

Smriti Mandhana has now scored 125 runs in two games in the ongoing The Hundred Women’s Competition

Speaking of the match, the SB skipper, Anya Shrubsole won the toss and opted to field first. While batting first, Hayley Mathews’s 65-run knock of 38 balls helped WF to score 165 runs after 100 balls for three wickets. In reply, Mandhana remained not out on 70 runs off 42 balls but that was not enough for them as they fell short by four runs. Danni Wyatt scored 67 runs off 37 balls but after her wicket, other batters failed to steady the chase. Mathews took one wicket also with the ball and won the Player of the Match award.

After receiving the award, during the post-match presentation, she said: "From the time we went out there," a beaming Matthews says, "it was a pretty good wicket. We wanted to put a big score on the board because we knew they were going to come out pretty hard. We talked in previous seasons about not getting over the line when we got pretty close in games, so it's great to close this one out. Thankfully, I got it done in the final over."
