On 21 July 2023, day two of the ongoing second Test match between India and the West Indies took place in the Port of Spain. After winning the series opener with ease, the Men in Blue were looking to clean sweep the series. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first.
However, Rohit scored 80 runs off 143 balls while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 57 runs off 74 balls. Both also put up a partnership of 139 runs for the first wicket. Then, Shubman Gill failed cheaply once again while batting at the number three position as he scored just 10 runs. Rahane also failed as he scored just eight runs.
Virat Kohli has now 76 international centuries to his name across all three formats
But, the former skipper, Virat Kohli looked fully determined as he managed to see off the day calmly along with Ravindra Jadeja. Team India finished day one with a score of 288 runs for four wickets in 84 overs. Kohli hit another fifty after scoring 76 runs in the last game. He was unbeaten on 87* runs while Jadeja was unbeaten on 36* runs. So, all eyes were on Kohli whether he could put an end to his overseas century drought on day two after a long wait of five years.
However, he did not disappoint his fans as Kohli smashed his 29th Test ton. He reached the milestone with a beautiful cover drive against Shannon Gabriel. Thus, it was his 76th international hundred and eventually, it came on his 500th international game for the Men in Blue across all three formats. But, finally, he got out for 121 runs off 206 balls, including 11 fours, courtesy of a run-out, direct thrown by Alzarri Joseph. Kohli failed short of the crease while looking for a quick single. Finally, the partnership of 159 runs between him and Jadeja came to an end for the fifth wicket. Seeing that knock, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media.

Just a classical cover drive did the job for the King as usual. Double it up now 👑. 76th ✅, let's move towards the 77th. Yeah, you are 'The Virat Kohli' & expectations have always been higher, so deal with it. #WIvIND #ViratKohli 🐐
