Pakistan star batter Babar Azam recently invited his fans and followers to join a live session on X to ask questions on various matters including his professional and personal life. In the session titled 'From Pitch to the Mic: Babar Azam', the former Pakistan skipper gathered a large audience. Most of the questions were related to cricket and he answered them without any hesitation.
However, one particular question caught Babar off guard, and interestingly, it wasn't from a fan. Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan also joined the session and decided to have a hilarious conversation with his teammate. Rizwan asked Babar about his marriage plans and the latter said that he expected such a question from him. What followed was a hilarious conversation between the two pillars of Pakistan's batting unit.
Here is how their conversation went:
"Jaanab, aap ki shaadi kab hai? (Mr. when are you getting married?)," asked Rizwan.
"Mujhe pata that aapne yehi sawaal karenge. (I knew you would ask me this question?)," Babar replied.
"Abhi poocha hai toh jawaab dena padega aapko (Now that I have asked, you must answer the question)," Rizwan insisted.
"Murshid, aapko meian akele mein samjhata hoon (I will make you understand that in private)," Babar stated.
Babar further added: "Nowadays, when I wake up in the morning, I find that I am married to someone. People start congratulating me. Then again, in the evening I am married to someone else. People again congratulate me. So I am already married. Now you should focus on someone else."
"The truth is that my wife is more concerned about when is Babar getting married. She keeps asking me daily."
Nuksaan hua hai: Rizwan reacts to breaking the T20I opening pair
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were Pakistan's T20I opening pair for years. However, in the recently concluded series against New Zealand, this combination fell apart when Babar was replaced by Saim Ayub. The Babar-Rizwan duo has been one of the most consistent opening pairs in the format, scoring over 2400 runs at an average of around 49.
However, the management decided to go with a new pair considering their low strike rate. After Babar stepped down from the captaincy of all formats, the Men in Green have gone through a lot of changes. Meanwhile, Rizwan, reacting to the scrapping of the opening pair, opined that the decision had a negative impact on the team.
"You can say that it [breaking the opening pair] has hurt (nuksaan hua hai) Pakistan. I can say that Babar bhai has a big heart. We both agreed that there is no issue [in splitting the opening pair]. We both told the management that they can try whatever combination they want. The difficulty arises when you break things that were already working well. However, management is looking at what can be extracted best from different combinations," the 31-year-old was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
