Premier Pakistani speedster Shaheen Afridi is back in the eleven to be in the action during the main round of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. He has also made it to the headlines of the media after fracturing the toe of star Afghanistan batter Rahmanullah Guraj during the warm-up match between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Recently, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has also come up with a warning to the Indian batters ahead of the blockbuster clash of the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup. Chopra feels that Shahee will be way more dangerous for the Indian batter in comparison that last year’s clash in the 20-20 World Cup 2021.
Afridi is getting close to his best but isn’t there yet - Aakash Chopra on Shaheen Afridi
"But I do feel the bowler be wary of on Sunday isn’t Shaheen. It’s Haris Rauf. Afridi is getting close to his best but isn’t there yet... and is unlikely to be by the 23rd either. Rauf will bowl the tougher overs and has the potential to make a difference," reads the tweet posted by Chopra from his official Twitter handle.
Notably, both teams will be playing against each other for the third time since their clash in the 20-20 World Cup 2021. They took on recently during the Asia Cup 2022 in a group match followed by an encounter in the super-4 round of the tournament. Although, both teams failed to lift the title in the continental tournament as India was out of the group stage. Whereas, Babar’s men lost to Sri Lanka in the final of the tournament.
Although, Shaheen Afridi was not a part of the Pakistani team during the Asia Cup followed by seven-match T20I series against England.
Speaking of India, they faced a major blow just ahead of the tournament as the senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah sustained a knee injury and was ruled out of the entire edition of the 20-20 World Cup. Later on, another senior lad Mohammed Shami replaced Bumrah for the marquee tournament in Australia.
