Meanwhile, Colombo’s star opener Babar Azam smashed a brilliant century in the second innings of the match and helped the team to chase the target without any difficulty. He scored 104 runs off just 59 balls which included 8 fours and 5 sixes. He also became the 2nd batter after the legendary cricketer Chris Gayle to hit 10 T20 centuries.

Talking about the match, Colombo won the toss and opted to bowl first. Galle’s openers Lasith Croospulle and Shevon Daniel provided a great start to the team by stitching an 87-run stand for the first wicket. Later, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Tim Seifert steadied the ship and an 87-run stand for the 3rd wicket. However, Rajapaksa was having a hard time in the middle as he was dismissed on the score of 30 runs which came off 31 deliveries. But Seifert batted aggressively and smashed a brilliant half-century to help his team to achieve a massive target of 188 runs.

Chasing the target, Colombo also started well as Babar and Pathum Nissanka stitched a 111-run partnership for the 1st wicket. They made the chase very easy for the team. Nissanka departed after smashing his half-century while Babar continued to dominate and hit a century. However, he departed without finishing the game.

But Mohammad Nawaz didn’t take too much time to finish the match. They needed 14 runs to win the last over. Babar departed in the first ball, then Nawaz came to bat and took doubles on the next 2 deliveries. He hit a six in the 4th ball of the over and finished the match with a four in the 5th ball.
