'Aaj tak samajh nahin aaya, ye khelta kyun hai' - Fans mercilessly troll Deepak Hooda for yet another poor outing in 1st T20I against NZ

Indian batter Deepak Hooda is once again on the receiving end of harsh criticism from the Indian cricket fans for another poor T20I outing in the first of the three-match T20I series against New Zealand. The 27-year-old could score only 10 runs off 10 balls with only a six to his name. Hooda came to bat at number 7 for India when India had already lost five wickets only on the score of 89 runs.

The Rohtak batter was expected to sojourn there for some time and guide the team through to the target of 177 runs in the remaining 7.4 overs. But he didn’t live up to the expectations and fell prey to opponent skipper and senior spinner Mitchell Santner on the fourth ball of the 16th over.

A section of the Indian cricket fans was completely in angst over Deepak Hooda for not providing strength and stability to the lower middle order when it was required at the most. Fans took to Twitter to lash out at Hooda and questioned his place in the playing XI of Team India in the shortest format of the game.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Speaking of the first match between India and New Zealand, the latter was asked to bat first after the hosts won the flip of the coin. Santner’s men posted a total of 176 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Senior opener Devon Conway and middle-order batter Daryl Mitchell contributed with brilliant half-centuries of 52 and 59 runs respectively off 35 and 30 balls.

While chasing the target, the men in blue couldn’t cross the line and scored only 155 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the entire 20 overs. Eventually, the visitors won the match by 21 runs taking a lead of 1-0 in the series.

Now, both teams will lock horns in the second of the three-match ODI series at the AB Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, the 29th of January.
