Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) clashed against each other for the second time in the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, May 6. DC successfully avenged their previous loss as they defeated RCB by 8 wickets and are slowly moving up in the points table with 8 points.

Talking about the match, RCB won the toss and opted to bat first, and as always, openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis provided a great start to the team as they stitched an 82-run stand for the first wicket. However, just when it looked like RCB will achieve a monumental total with both Du Plessis and Kohli in the middle, the former departed.

DC allrounder Mitchell Marsh provided a much-needed breakthrough in the 10th over of the 1st innings. Marsh continued to bowl well as in the same over, he sent Glenn Maxwell back to the pavilion on a golden duck. On the other hand, Kohli continued his brilliance in the tournament and smashed another half-century but it took him 42 balls to reach the milestone.

But the young left-hander, Mahipal Lomror turned the match towards RCB as he was the only player who showed intent from the first ball and smashed a quick fifty. However, RCB could have crossed the 200-run mark if Dinesh Karthik tried to finish the innings with some good hits, but unfortunately, he scored only 11 runs. With the help of Lomror’s outstanding knock of 54 runs off just 29 balls, which included 6 fours and 3 sixes, RCB made 181 runs in 20 overs.

Brilliant batting by Delhi Capitals

Chasing the target, DC openers David Warner and Philip Salt provided a cracking start to the chase as they stitched a 60-run partnership for the first wicket which came in just 1st overs. On the first ball of the 6th over, Warner was dismissed by his fellow Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, but his wicket didn't bring relief for RCB as Salt continued his dominance even after the powerplay.

Marsh joined him and kept one end safe to give Salt a free license to smash every ball out of the boundary line. However, he fell 13 runs short of his maiden IPL century but assured the win for DC and they are now moved to the 9th position in the points table.
