The ‘Super 4’ clash of this ongoing Asia Cup 2023 between India and Pakistan took place on 10 September in Colombo. The earlier group clash between them was called off due to rain. So, all the fans were eagerly waiting for this match. Speaking of the match, India were asked to bat first by the Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam after winning the toss.

Both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a solid start with a 121-run opening partnership. Rohit scored 56 runs while Gill scored 58 runs. But, after 24.1 overs, India were on 147 runs for two wickets as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were on the crease. Then, rain came and the match got called off.

However, as 11 September was the reserved day, the game resumed from the same position after some delay due to rain. Rahul got a place in the playing XI at the last moment as Shreyas Iyer got back spams. It was his comeback after sustaining a thigh injury during the IPL 2023. But, both Kohli and Rahul came up with batting masterclasss as they smashed Pakistan bowlers all around the park. Kohli scored 122* runs while Rahul scored 111* runs as India posted 356 runs on the board for two wickets. They stitched a 233*-run partnership for the third wicket.

Meanwhile, Kohli became the fastest batter to cross the 13000-run mark in ODIs in terms of the innings. He eventually hit his 47th ODI and 77th international ton in the process. In reply, India’s bowlers were on a roll as all Pakistan batters were left absolutely clueless. Kuldeep Yadav was the star as he picked up five wickets for 25 runs in eight overs. Along with him, Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur, and Jasprit Bumrah took one wicket each. The Men in Green managed 128 runs in 32 overs for eight wickets. But, both Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf did not come out to bat due to injury precautions. Hence, India won the game by 228 runs.
