'A true legend of Indian cricket' - Fans awestruck with R Ashwin following his match-winning knock against Bangladesh

Once again, the savior for team India in a tough situation was none other than the veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin. He played another match-defining knock to cross the finishing line for team India against Bangladesh in the just concluded Mirpur Test. Notably, there was a time in the match when the Indian team was on the brink of losing the match.

The visitors lost four wickets only on the score of 45 runs at the time of stumps on day 3 of the match. Resuming the game on the fourth day, the spin attack of Bangladesh dominated as they got three early wickets from India at the beginning of the day. Now, the score was 74 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

But it was also the time when the modern-day great all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin took the charge alongside Shreyas Iyer. Ashwin went on to play an amazing knock of 42 runs off 62 balls with four boundaries and a six to his name. On the other hand, Iyer also contributed with 29 runs with four boundaries.

The duo stitched a 71-run match-winning partnership for the eighth wicket of the Indian team. Ravichandran Ashwin finished off the match with a boundary that eventually led the Indian team to win the series by 2-0.

With a clean sweep win against Bangladesh in the recently concluded two-match Test series, the Indian team has now jumped to the second spot in the table of World Test Championship 2023. They are now only behind the Australian who is in the top position in the table.

Interestingly, India and Australia are scheduled to play a full-fledged four-match Test series in February next year. Notably, India will have to win their all matches in the four-match Test series against Australia.
