India and South Africa locked horns in the third and final of the three-match ODI series. Both teams played this match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Stand-in Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first bowling-friendly turf of Arun Jaitley Stadium. Batting first, South Africa crumbled down completely and wrapped only on the score of 99.
Indian bowlers outmuscled the South African batting lineup with a brilliant display of bowling in the series decider. While chasing the target, Indian batters comfortably crossed the line in 19.1 overs to win the match by seven wickets and clinch the three-match series by a margin of 2-1

Speaking of the match, the Indian bowlers dominated the match from the very beginning and proved their captain’s decision of bowling first very accurate in the must-win encounter of the series. Heinrich Klassen ended up as the only South African to cross the individual score of 30 runs. He played a knock of 34 runs off 42 balls with four boundaries. Including Klassen, only three batters could touch the double-digit in their individual score. This list included the likes of opener Janneman Malan and lower-order batter Marco Jansen.
Kuldeep Yadav finished the South African inning being the most successful Indian bowler in the match as he scalped four wickets by conceding only 18 runs in 4.1 overs with a brilliant economy rate of 4.32.
While chasing the target, the opening pair of skipper Shikhar Dhawan and young lad Shubman Gill provided a strong start of 42 runs for the first wicket. Gill played an amazing knock of 49 runs off 57 balls with eight boundaries. Other than Gill, Shreyas Iyer also played a crucial knock of 28 runs off 23 balls with three boundaries and two massive sixes to his name. Iyer finished the match for India in an emphatic style with a match-winning six.
Eventually, India clinched the three-match ODI series by a margin of 2-1 against the Proteas. Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav were adjudged 'player of the series and 'player of the match respectively.
