The mini-auction for the 2023 edition of the Indian T20 League ended in Kochi on the 23rd of December earlier this month. The auction was summed up with some shocking bids including the highest in the history of the tournament. The Punjab-based franchise bought the young England all-rounder for a whopping amount of INR 18.50 crores.
Apart from this, the veteran England all-rounder Ben Stokes was bought by the three-time champions Chennai for an amount of INR 16.25 crores. Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was also the highlight of the auction as Bangalore picked him in a massive amount of INR 17.50 crores.
But there were also a few batters who could have earned a big amount but unfortunately, they went unsold during the mini-auction.
With said that, here we’ll have a look at five batters who might make a wild card entry in the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League as replacements in case of any injury or something else.
Herry Tector
The 23-year-old Ireland batter has produced some brilliant performances while appearing for the national team of Ireland at the highest level of the game. Apart from that, Tector has also played some brilliant knocks in the franchise T20 leagues across the cricketing world.
Talking about the mini-auction of the Indian T20 League 2023, Joshua Little was the only name from Ireland to earn a call in the cash-rich Indian T20 tournament. Speaking of his records in T20 cricket, he has appeared in 94 matches and scored 1630 with an average of 23.28 with six half-centuries.
Rassie Van Der Dussen
Rassie Van Der Dussen made his first appearance in the Indian T20 League for Rajasthan earlier this year in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. The Proteas batter could play only 3 matches and couldn’t have an expected run with the bat in the tournament. He scored only 22 runs in three appearances.
Although the 33-year-old also went unsold during the mini-auction for the next edition of the Indian T20 League. Although considering his brilliant average of 36.00 in the T20Is with seven half-centuries, the franchises might count on him as a replacement if any of the players get out of the team due to unforeseen circumstances.
Paul Stirling
The veteran Irish batter is undoubtedly one of the best T20 batters in modern-time cricket. After 121 appearances, he batted in 120 innings and scored 3181 runs with a decent average of 28.4 including a century and 21 half-centuries on his credit.
The franchises who happened to ignore the 32-year-old might look forward to adding him as a replacement given his excellent career in the quickest format of the game. Apoorv Wankhede
The right-hand batter plays for Vidarbha in First-Class cricket, he is one of the frontrunners to make a sudden entry as a replacement in the next edition of the Indian T20 League. Apoorv Wankhade has played 70 T20Is in the Indian domestic circuit. The 30-year-old batter has registered 1295 runs with his willow with an average of 28.77 with two half-centuries.
Thinking of uncapped Indians, the franchises might eye on him to call him as a replacement in the squad.
Priyank Panchal
Priyank Panchal is One of the stars and celebrated names in Indian domestic cricket. Although the Gujarat batter is still waiting for his first appearance in the Indian T20 League. Panchal has a very good domestic T20 career to his name with 1496 runs in 55 matches with an average of 30.53 including nine half-centuries.
Considering his batting brilliance in domestic T20 cricket, big teams like Chennai and Mumbai might eye him to add as a replacement in the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League.
