All participating teams have announced their squad for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022. The eighth edition of the marquee tournament is commencing on the 16th of October next month. There have been some renowned additions and shocking omissions as well from the squads of the teams participating in the tournament.
Apart from all this, a few omissions have left the cricket fans in shock they haven’t expected those players to be outside the squad for the World Cup 2022. So, keeping that in mind, here we’ll have a look at five players who have been ignored from the squad of their nation’s team for the World Cup despite their good run of form.
Sanju Samson – India
The 27-year-old Indian wicketkeeper-batter is in the headlines of social media for the last couple of weeks since the selectors announced the Indian squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Notably, Samson has been in a good run of form both with the bat and behind the wickets as well.
He impressed everyone with his stellar performances in the bilateral clashes against West Indies and Zimbabwe as well. But eventually, the selectors happened to ignore him and picked Dinesh Karthik and young wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant in the squad for the World Cup.
Cameron Green – Australia
Young Australian batting sensation has stunned everyone with his excellent performances in the recently-concluded three-match T20I series against India. He went on to smash 118 runs in three matches with an amazing average of 39.33 having two swashbuckling half-centuries to his name.
Although, it seemed that the performances from Green were quite late as the Australian management had already announced the squad for the World Cup in their own backyard and Green was not a part of their plans.
Mohammad Amir – Pakistan
The senior Punjabi lad was in the headlines of social media as the fans were speculating about his comeback to the team for the Asia Cup 2022. Although, Pakistan team management preferred to give a chance to the youngsters like Mohammad Hasnain and Shahnawaz Dahani instead of Amir.
Currently, the 30-year-old is in action during the Caribbean Premier League 2022 for the St. Lucia King. He has amazed everyone with his performances in the tournament by scalping 13 wickets in 10 matches.
Faf du Plessis – South Africa
Former South African skipper and the senior batter is continuously impressing the fans and cricket experts with his consistency in the shortest format of the game. The 38-year-old veteran has scored 291 runs in eight innings in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League playing for St. Lucia Kings.
But the Proteas management is continuously ignoring the batting legend despite his continuous stellar performances in the T20 format.
Ben Duckett – England
The Kent-born batting talent is batting in blistering form with the bat in the ongoing seven-match T20I series against Pakistan. He has smashed 167 runs in the four innings of four matches with an outstanding average of 55.66 having a half-century to his name.
Although, the England team management had already announced the squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. And unfortunately, Ben Duckett couldn’t make a cut to the squad even after having a purple patch with the bat.
